MEDIREST AND ONE RETAIL PARTNERSHIPS SHORTLISTED FOR THE 2024 HSJ PARTNERSHIP AWARDS
Compass’ Medirest and One Retail sectors have both been shortlisted for HSJ Partnership Awards, to be held in March 2024.
Medirest has been shortlisted for the ‘Long Term Partnership with the NHS Award’ for its work with Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust. Medirest has worked with Royal Surrey since 1994 and in 2014 took on the delivery of extra services including cleaning and portering, with waste and pest control added in 2021. This year, the partnership between Medirest and Royal Surrey was the first to receive triple Exemplar site status from the NHSE, for hospital portering, cleaning and catering. The NHS Exemplar recognition acknowledges the delivery of the best-in-class service and that the team will share learnings and experiences to enable other Trusts to follow suit.
Compass’ One Retail team and University Hospital Southampton have been shortlisted for ‘Social Value Initiative of the Year’, for their work creating the Wellness Hub within the hospital. The Hub was established to deliver a much-needed area that includes a free-to-use staff gym, meeting spaces and cafe. Launched on the 5 July to mark the 75th anniversary of the NHS, the hospital partnered with One Retail, Compass Group UK & Ireland’s retail sector, to include an innovative new café with a focus on health, wellbeing and social value.
Russell Blake, Managing Director, Healthcare – Compass Group UK & Ireland said: “Being shortlisted in the HSJ Partnership Awards 2024 shows a stamp of approval for the work that we strive to deliver in partnership with our client at Royal Surrey – this is recognition for all the hard work of both our team and our NHS partner. We are so proud to have the opportunity to share our success with colleagues from across the entire sector during these awards.”
Andy Jones, One Retail Managing Director said: “We all know NHS staff go above and beyond, working long hours on busy shifts, so the Wellness Hub really delivers something special for these people and this area is a truly unique facility. We are so proud to be part of it, delivering the sentiment of wellbeing with our integral food and drink offers, alongside social value.”
HSJ editor Alastair McLellan, adds; “It always gives me great pleasure to congratulate our finalists at this stage of the judging process and this year is no exception as we acknowledge Medirest and Royal Surrey, and One Retail for their work at Southampton.
“The calibre of entries left our panel of expert judges with some tough decisions to deliberate over. However, it’s always important to remember that the HSJ Partnership Awards are not just a celebration of success stories, but also a platform to shape the future collaboration within the NHS.
“We can’t wait to welcome our finalists to the awards ceremony in March and to recognise and applaud such impressive achievements across the sector.
Now in its seventh year, 228 entries have been received for this year’s Partnership Awards, with 188 projects and individuals meriting inclusion on the final shortlist. The high volume - and exceptional quality – of applications once again mirrors the impressive levels of innovation and care continually being developed across the UK’s healthcare system.
The selected winners will be announced during the awards ceremony at Evolution London on 21st March 2024.
